If you are reading this, it is more than likely you are thinking of taking the first steps towards making some important changes to your life.  The thought of therapy can often be a daunting and confusing prospect to consider.  Over the next few pages allow me to introduce myself and attempt to unpack the process of therapy for you, in this way you can better understand the choices you are about to make.

About me

My name is Kevin, I have always had more than a passing interest in human experience, it is because of this interest I decided to take on a degree in psychology some years ago.  It was during this time I found myself drawn to the topics of emotion, personality and consciousness.  This combination of interests naturally led me to pursue an MA in counselling, which I then went on to complete with the University of Manchester.

I have worked for the NHS for over 10 years, and currently work as a GP counsellor in a number of GP surgeries around Manchester.

The BACP

I have met the strict standards to achieve accredited status with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  With over 50,000 members, the BACP is the professional body that governs and regulates counselling and psychotherapy in the UK, with the goal of improving the standards of therapeutic practice.

I am also on the BACP Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. This register is a public record of therapists who have met the BACP standards for registration.  Being a registered member means that I have achieved a substantial level of training, supervision and experience approved by their member organisation, it also means that I am committed to the Ethical Framework for the Counselling Profession.
